Built in 1938, our two squash courts are said to be the first constructed outside of London, they are fantastic courts with skylights providing excellent light, and sprung wooden floors giving good feel and grip. They have solid walls on all sides, with good viewing galleries to the back walls. Completely renovated in 2009, these courts continue to provide an extra facility to members wishing to use them, and we have a good group of all abilities using them on a regular basis.
Currently, the squash league has 6 divisions (mixed), with over 40 players, enjoying the facility. During the season, the players also arrange a few friendly matches with local teams, creating a great social atmosphere for the club. In recent months, the club has been introduced to Racketball, a sport which sits between squash and tennis, providing a very effective aerobic workout for both the young and not so young members! Played on a squash court, this additional activity has significantly increased the court usage throughout the week and attracted new players into the squash club. Although Squash and Racketball continue throughout the summer, the season ends in April with the Squash Club Dinner, a great social evening, which includes the final of the annual squash tournament.
